What happens when you drink |
 |
When you drink, 80 percent of the alcohol is absorbed in the small intestine and the remaining 20 percent in the stomach. The effects of alcohol mainly depend on your mental state, the environment and your anticipation. The first effect one notices after consumption of alcohol is gradual relief from many anxieties and tensions. Slowly you feel more carefree and social inhibitions become relaxed. The most common reactions are talkativeness, jollity, cheerfulness, and sociability whereas some even become aggressive. It depends on your state of mind. Alcohol makes you feel more confident and courageous and you are able to move around more freely and mingle with people. However, alcohol can impair your judgement, effect your decision making and at times lead to unconsciousness.
The amount of alcohol in your body depends on how much you have drunk your sex, size and weight. Man’s bodies contain more water and their metabolism is different so, alcohol has a lesser effect on a man than a woman. A full stomach can delay the time taken for alcohol to be absorbed. Spirits and fizzy alcoholic drinks are absorbed more quickly. Alcohol also causes sweating and can dampen the temperature regulating mechanism in the brain. It diminishes sexual stimulation and can impede male erection. It is a central nervous system depressant, and causes inflammation of the stomach lining. Excessive alcohol can be fatal and it can increase the heart rate and dilate the blood vessels in the skin. |
